The flesh is
yellowish white, juicy and sweet. It seldom contains seeds. The taste is faintly
reminiscent of pear, peach ,cantaloupe, and a honeydew melon. You can identify
a pepino by its smooth round or oval shape and its colorful skin, which is light
yellow with purple lines throughout.
Use: Eat fresh with or
without skin. Use in appetizers or desserts much the same way as melon.
Because
pepino flesh is sweet and tasty, it provides a welcome addition to many desserts,
side dishes, and health-conscious meals. Additionally, it is an interesting addition
to many party fruit platters because of its unique, dual color skin and its juicy,

Horned Melon - from Africa
The
Horned Melon is a member of the cucumber, it looks like an oval melon with horns
(resembling spikes) and is very decorative. Picked green, ripened orange, the
it tastes like a mix of lemon and banana. It is a tropical fruit so it should
not be stored in the refrigerator.The melon has a gorgeous orange rind with spikes

excellent jelly, pie filling or cake frosting. Seeds with the surrounding juice

fruit of the purple passion fruit. Most often, the pulp is used in desserts or
it may be sieved to use as a flavoring.
